At Upstate Amish, we sell a variety of outdoor furniture, including our patio tables. Our picnic table sizes vary greatly, and so does the patio table umbrella size we recommend. From two person conversation sets to large dining tables, we have it all.
Each outdoor table we offer is complete with a central hole for the umbrella pole. In addition, each table base has a mechanism that stabilizes the pole. This way, the umbrella stays upright and is unaffected by strong winds.
Below, we will give a patio umbrella size guide for our different table sizes. Since the standard size of a picnic table varies with style, so does the needed umbrella diameter.
What Size Umbrella for our Patio Tables
For each umbrella size, we will list which of our tables falls under it and how many people they can seat. The diameter of the umbrella should be at least a few feet larger than the table size. This way, all chairs surrounding the table are shady and protected from rain as well.
Keep in mind the dimensions of the table are more important than the seating capacity relating to umbrella size. For example, if wondering what size umbrella for a 6 person table works best, the results vary. For a 6 person round table, we recommend a larger umbrella than a 6 person rectangular table.
This is because the diameter of the umbrella should reach over the chairs all around. For a rectangular table, usually one or both ends are not underneath the umbrella.

Table umbrellas are suitable for all our sizes. However, cantilever umbrellas can be a great addition to any outdoor space. These have no central pole but instead are side-mounted so the umbrella is hanging in the air without blocking the view.
These can be ideal for large outdoor seating areas that need lots of shade. Most cantilever umbrellas can rotate and tilt as well. Hanging umbrellas are also great for shading lounge chairs and glider sets.
Either way, the market for umbrellas is competitive so there are many quality options available.
About Our Recycled Plastic Patio Furniture
Each of our outdoor dining tables is 100% premium poly lumber and handmade by Amish experts. This means they are highly sustainable, durable, and weather proof. We offer four unique styles of outdoor dining chairs as well to complete your perfect patio umbrella table set.
Our tables are available at standard, counter, and bar height. The standard option is 30 inches high, the counter is 36, and the bar is 42. For our bar height tables, we offer a swivel saddle bar stool available with or without a back. Our other chairs styles are also available at bar height.

We offer standard and premium colors at a slightly different price. Customers can select all one color for the whole table or chair, or they can mix and match with our two toned option.
Our standard options tend to be more natural or neutral with a couple exceptions. These include: White, Weatherwood, Light Gray, Cedar, Cherrywood, Tudor Brown, Dark Gray, and Black. The more vibrant standard colors that work as accents are: Mint Green, Patriot Blue, and Turf Green.
Our premium options are much brighter and more eye-catching than the standard. These include: Pink, Bright Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime Green, Aruba Blue, and Purple. Available at the same price are our wood grain color options. These include: Seashell, Birchwood, Driftwood Gray, Coastal Gray, Antique Mahogany, and Brazilian Walnut.
The wood grain colors are unique and patented by our supplier, Tangent Sustainable Lumber. These actually mimic the color and grain pattern of real wood species. While the material is entirely recycled plastic, it can have the appearance of natural wood.

A great idea for an umbrella set is to match the accent color of the table and chairs with the color of the umbrella. For example, you choose Brazilian Walnut as a base color and Aruba Blue as an accent. A similarly colored bright blue umbrella would pair well.
