Create the Best Mid Century Modern Dining Set for Your Home

MCM Dining Sets are popular for a variety of reasons. Their simple, minimalist design allows mid century pieces to blend well with many other styles. The organic shapes maximize space and give a more open and airy feel to a room. This makes an MCM dining room set ideal for an open floor plan or a small dining room.

Natural wood is another key feature of MCM furniture. All our furniture, whether dining or bedroom, is solid domestic hard wood with no veneers or laminates. We offer a wide variety of wood species and stain colors.

For Mid Century pieces, we recommend walnut or oak, as both helped define this furniture movement in the 1960s. Both look best without a dramatic stain, but with a more natural one that brings out the original hues in the wood.

Our Modern Mid Century Dining Sets

We offer a quality selection of tables and chairs to create your ideal Mid Century Modern dining room set. Throughout our MCM collection, a couple elements are essential. Natural, organic shapes contrasting with clean, straight lines are common in this style.

Round Mid Century Table with Windsor and Sedona Chairs

We offer three unique Mid Century dining tables at Upstate Amish. One of these options is round and the other two are rectangular. The Round Mid Century Dining Table is a popular choice among customers.

The round tabletop contrasts with the defined lines and angles of the pedestal base. The base features four legs that connect at the center. From this spot, each leg displays an obtuse angle for a rather unusual, yet simple design.

The Shaker Mid Century Dining Table combines classic Amish design with MCM style. The Shaker style legs taper slightly from all sides on this rectangular table. The rest of the piece features neat, simple lines common in MCM tables.

Shaker Mid Century Table and Bench with Windsor Chairs

The Monroe Mid Century Dining Table also features tapered legs, but they differ from the Shaker. The Monroe legs are at a straight right angle with the table and then taper dramatically from the two inward facing sides. The tabletop itself aligns perfectly with the start of the legs for a clean, geometric look.

To accompany these tables, we offer MCM dining chairs as well. These range in appearance greatly and are our Windsor, Laker, and Cordelle styles. Mix and match these options to create the perfect Mid Century style dining set for your space.

The Windsor chair is the most easily recognized as classic MCM style. This chair features scoop seats and a bent back. The chair back itself is an organic oval shape that curves naturally around the sitter.

The Laker chair is almost opposite the Windsor. The back features straight, clean lines that pair well with the Monroe table. The back legs curve gently for contrast and the front legs taper from the inside.

The Cordelle chair is a great example of how MCM style likes to combine straight lines with organic curves. The front legs are vertical with no taper and the back legs are diagonal and meet the edge of the armrest. Meanwhile, the seat back curves dramatically around the sitter for high geometric contrast.

Mid Century Dining Room Set Ideas

Various ways to style our MCM dining furniture exist. Here, we will give some ideas for mixing and matching the tables and chairs detailed above.

A great combo for a conversation set is two Cordelle chairs with our 42 inch Round Mid Century Dining Table. This set looks great in a small kitchen space, sunroom, or as part of an open floor plan. Shown below in rustic walnut with a natural stain, this is certainly an attractive set.

An excellent Mid Century 7 piece dining set is our Monroe table complete with 6 Cordelle chairs. Shown below in select white oak wood, this set features high geometric contrast. The Windsor chairs with this table achieve that effect as well. For a perfect match and little contrast, combine the Monroe with our Laker chairs.

Upholstered chairs are also a great way to add distinction to a set. Place the Sedona or Dorcy dining chairs at the ends of the table with solid wood MCM chairs along the sides. This works especially well when a darker wood like walnut contrasts with a light colored fabric.
