Types of Storage Cabinets for Bedroom Spaces

Different spaces require certain types and sizes of storage pieces. We offer a variety of options to choose from to create the perfect set for your bedroom. Most of the specific styles mentioned below have a matching bed frame and other bedroom furniture.

Dresser

A dresser provides horizontal storage space. This option is ideal for those seeking more surface space and makes an excellent place for a dresser mirror.

For most styles, we offer a seven drawer low dresser or a nine drawer high dresser. The smaller option features two columns of two large, rectangular drawers. The larger size has three large drawers in each column for added storage capacity. Both options have three smaller drawers in a row across the top of the piece.

Seven drawer low dressers are around 35 inches tall while the nine drawer options range from 42 to 46 depending on style.

Dressers tend to be more versatile than other bedroom cabinet storage pieces. They can work as a traditional dresser in a bedroom or as an entertainment center in a living room. Like a dresser mirror fits well over this storage option, so does a TV. The surface provides space for gaming consoles and more.

This option is ideal when moving to another house or apartment. If your new bedroom space doesn't allow for a full dresser, you can repurpose the piece to use in another room.

Especially attractive dresser styles are: Denali, Miranda, and Hudson. The Denali features clean edges with post style construction and tapered feet.

The Miranda is more ornate with delicate molding, a detailed cutout base, and raised and paneled drawer fronts. The Hudson style is a modern, minimalist dresser with square legs and wide overlay drawers.

We also offer narrow lingerie dressers with five or six stacked drawers. These dressers are around 54 to 57 inches tall.

Chest of Drawers

A chest of drawers provides vertical storage, which makes them excellent for narrow spaces. Most of our styles feature five large drawers stacked in a column. Or, choose four drawers with two smaller drawers side by side at the top of the piece.

This option is ideal for smaller bedrooms where a dresser would require too much space. The wide surface can also support a small TV, painting, or other decorative pieces. Height ranges from 50 to 57 inches depending on the style.

Popular chest of drawers styles are the Mission and Jackson designs. The former looks best in our quarter sawn white oak, as it features traditional Amish design. The square legs give it a sturdy look and an arched cutout base adds subtle detail.

The Jackson style is perfect as a rustic cabinet for bedroom storage. It features paneled drawer fronts, square legs, and a slight beveled edge. It looks excellent in rustic hickory wood with our Willowbend stain color.

Chiffonier

A chiffonier is another great option for vertical storage space. This bedroom storage cabinet offers varied types of storage with a mix of drawers and doors. Each style follows the same general design, but has unique details.

Every chiffonier features a large rectangular drawer at the base of the piece. Above this on the right side is a long door with a full length mirror. It opens to reveal three spacious shelves for storing folded clothes.

On the left side, each chiffonier features three smaller drawers stacked above the base drawer. Above these drawers is a smaller, solid wood door that opens to more shelving.

Ask us about any edits you may want to make to the design of our chiffoniers. Height varies depending on style but is usually around 68 to 70 inches.

The Hudson style in natural walnut wood is an especially attractive option. Overlay drawers allow for larger pieces of wood with highly visible grain and color. The simple design of this style draws focus to the delicate complexity of walnut wood. The natural variation in color and the gentle, swirling grain make a beautiful bedroom storage piece.

Armoire

We offer both a classic armoire and a mule chest armoire to accommodate both small and large spaces. The former features two large, rectangular drawers at the base. Above these are two narrower yet taller drawers. The upper half of the armoire features two large doors that open to shelving space.

The mule chest armoire design features a base similar to the nine drawer chest of drawers. Above this are two sets of large doors that open to three rows of shelf space. This option is certainly our largest bedroom cabinet storage piece. Both armoire options range from about 75 to 81 inches tall depending on style selection.

Our armoires are about 21-23 inches deep, making them perfect for narrow spaces. Since they are mainly vertical storage pieces, they do not occupy much floor space when placed along a wall.

Our Belmont mule chest armoire is a stylish choice for any luxury bedroom. It features ornate details like crown molding, paneled drawer fronts, and a cutout base. It looks excellent in maple wood with our Willowbend or Cocoa Light stain color.

Nightstand

We offer a variety of nightstand styles to complete your bedroom set. Each style is available with three evenly sized drawers or with a singular drawer and open shelving. Or, our Craftsman Mission style features a small set of doors under the drawer for a traditional look.

Our Belmont nightstand is a unique option that features elaborate, decorative design. Above the top drawer is a hidden compartment for discreet storage. This is ideal for a bedside handgun or even fine jewelry.

Our Hilton nightstand is another stylish choice and features mid century design. Like the rest of the Hilton set, this nightstand has clean edges, paneled sides, and MCM style tapered legs. This style looks excellent in maple wood with our Brown Velvet stain.

Jewelry Storage

In addition to traditional storage cabinets for bedrooms, we also offer jewelry armoires and mirrors. These have places for specific jewelry for ultimate organization.

Our Louis Phillippe and Mission styles are similar in design but differ in details. Both feature seven drawers complete with a velvet lined interior. Different drawers feature varying jewelry storage including for bracelets, rings, and more. Both also feature doors on both sides that open to reveal necklace hooks.

The top of the Mission style features a hidden door that opens to reveal a mirror and discreet storage space. This is perfect for storing your favorite or most expensive pieces. Ask us about editing the design of the Louis Phillippe to include a similar function.

We offer two types of revolving mirrors: the storage leaner and sliding cheval. The former is available in modern Milano or classic Shaker style and features tiered, open storage space. Our Shaker sliding cheval mirror is more discreet because the mirror slides to reveal a wall of jewelry storage.

This includes an optional earring door, necklace hooks, and places for other types of jewelry. This style is also available with a revolving shoe tower with space for up to thirty pairs of shoes.

The final option is our Shaker split jewelry armoire for ultimate jewelry storage. The bottom half of this piece is two large, simple drawers. The top half is much more complex. It features six small drawers, sides that open out for necklace hooks, and a top similar to the Mission jewelry armoire.

Customize Your Bedroom Cabinet Storage Pieces

In addition to many types and styles of bedroom storage cabinets, each one is fully customizable. We will work with you to create the perfect piece for your bedroom. Our Amish partners make each piece by hand, which allows you to tailor the order to your preferences.

Other furniture retailers do not allow this level of customization. Most only sell the popular styles and colors, making unique pieces harder to find. While Amish furniture is more expensive, its heirloom quality and personalized details are worth the investment.

Style, Size, and Features

Wood Species and Stain

For every piece of furniture at Upstate Amish, customers choose both the wood species and stain color. We offer a quality selection of solid domestic hardwoods. This includes: maple, cherry, oak, birch, elm, hickory, and walnut.

Oak options are: red oak, rustic white oak, and quarter sawn white oak. Ask us about other wood species like claro walnut or flamed birch. Customers can also choose two species for the same piece if they prefer a two toned combination.

As for stain color options, we offer multiple for each species. Every stain looks different on each wood type because of the natural color tones. We also offer color matching to existing furniture. Show us pictures and give us relevant information on your current bedroom furniture. We will work with you to find the best mix of species and stain to match the rest of your set for a cohesive look.

Even details like knobs and handles are completely in control of the customer. Choose from our selection of gold, silver, bronze, and black finishes to complete your order. We offer a variety of styles to compliment pieces in modern, traditional, or rustic design.
