Solid Oak Bar Stools and Oak Counter Stools

(42 products)

The kitchen serves as much more than just a space to prep food and cook meals. Often it is the heart of the home.

At Upstate Amish Furniture Gallery, we offer a wide variety of Solid Oak Bar Stools and counter stools. Whether you are looking for farmhouse bar stools or just plain modern stools, we have you covered. Our Amish made barstools provide comfortable seating and work well around countertops, kitchen islands and bars.

Oak Bar Stools in Red Oak, White Oak and Quarter Sawn Oak

In this collection we offer 3 different wood species for our bar stools. We have red oak, white oak and quartersawn oak. Red oak wood is dependable and strong with its color profile ranging from creamy white to a warm tan. You will see that it has bold sweeping arches that look energetic rather than subtle.

Red Oak texture is coarser with a Janka hardness of 1290. White Oak ranks at 1360 with a straight coarse grain in a color tone of light beige and tan to a pale yellow. It usually has more of a cooler undertone compared to the red oak. Our Amish craftsman builders highly value white oak for its strength and ability to resist rot.

Quarter Sawn Oak is specialty cut White Oak wood, showing an angled view of the grain. The wood grain features straight, vertical grain lines marked by shimmery, silver ribbons that run vertical to the grain. Its most defining feature is the tiger stripes. The texture feels heavy and consistent and is remarkably stable.

Each of these solid woods will work and serve well for your counter or bar stools. They will be able to endure high traffic areas and handle wear and tear.

Why Amish Made Oak Bar Stools are a Great Kitchen Upgrade

At Upstate Amish Furniture Gallery all our bar and counter stools are hand made by Amish craftsmen in Ohio. We craft each piece of furniture with nothing other than high quality wood. Getting your wood bar stools made with oak wood is a smart choice. Oak wood holds screws and joinery better than softer woods, meaning your bar stools won't wobble after only a year of use.

The bar stools are satisfyingly solid that you won't have to worry about knocking them over just by walking past. White oak counter stools as well as any of the other wood options will take stains nicely. If you're interested in a light oak bar stool, check out our Urban 24" Rustic White Oak wood bar stool in Blissful Sand.

Or if you favor more of a darker color, check out our Asbury Brown Stain, Stone Brown, Dark Knight and many more options. You can also get 2-tone colors on your barstools.

With kids and pets in the house you will always be dealing with scratches and dents with all the wear and tear going on. With a cheap metal stool, it will look like damage. With solid oak stools it will only add a distressed look to it giving it some charm. The benefits of solid wood bar stools are so great, you will not regret buying one.

Oak Bar Height vs Oak Counter Height Bar Stools

When purchasing a bar or counter stool there is one thing to keep in mind. Do you need bar height or counter height? Choosing the right seating for your island or home bar seems like a small detail but is actually an important one. We offer standard sizes of 24" and 30" seat heights.

The 24" seat height is counter height. Most builders design kitchen islands the same level as the countertops, making light oak counter stools the perfect choice. Since this size is lower to the ground it won't tower the room, making it feel more spacious.

Our 30" seat height is bar height. Perfect for home bars or pub tables. Since the stools are higher, the people sitting are almost at eye level with people who are standing nearby. Custom sizes are also available as well.

The Appeal of Oak Counter Stools with Backs

Bar and counter stools are the soul of the kitchen. At Upstate Amish Furniture Gallery, we offer oak bar stools with backs and also backless. Backless bar stools are great for pushing completely under a counter but won't provide the level of comfort that a back will.

Our Post Mission 2-slat Bar Stool offers a low profile back making for amazing comfort and support. When sitting at your kitchen island for longer than ten minutes, you will be wanting a back for lumbar support. It also keeps those wiggling kids from falling of backwards.

Oak Stationary Bar Stools vs Oak Swivel Bar Stools

Stationary Bar stools are great. But swivel bar stools are awesome. Have you ever found yourself trapped in a non-swiveling chair against a high counter? If so, you know the struggle.

Here are some of the great benefits of swivel. The greatest perk is the unlimited movement. Swiveling also means that your base will stay put, conserving your floors and the stools joints. In tight spaces there is often not enough swing room to pull out your chair.

With a swivel bar stool, you can easily turn 90 degrees and stand up without a problem. It helps smaller spaces feel less confined. A great swivel bar stool to check out is our Turnstone. It features a low back and swivels all the way around without hitting the countertop.

Stationary bar stools offer a great level of stability, which is hard to beat as well. If a family member has trouble with movement or balance, a stationary bar stool can help. It offers a stable seat they can hold onto when sitting or standing. You will also have less problems with counter dings.
